On 7 May 2024, we attended the OHDSI workshop in Berlin. The workshop entitled “Real World Data Analytics for Large Scale Evidence Generation – OHDSI in Germany: From the Niche to the Future” brought together experts at the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Stiftung in Berlin. The event was hosted by the OHDSI (Observational Health Data Sciences & Informatics) community, a global initiative dedicated to using health data to improve patient care.
At the workshop, we at DIFUTURE were able to expand our understanding of OHDSI and OMOP (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership) in order to be able to play an active role in large international retrospective observational studies with real world data in the future.
Both the interesting presentations by the speakers Dr Ines Reinecke (DIZ Dresden), Michele Zoch (Technische Universität Dresden), Prof. Dr Christian Reich (OHDSI | Odysseus Data Services, Inc. | Northeastern University), Mirko Gruhl (DIZ Dresden), Elisa Henke (TU Dresden), Dr Michael Kallfelz (mio. Michael Kallfelz (mio42 GmbH), Alexa Straus & Christian Hentschel (both from Data4Life), Nikolai Grewe (IQVIA), Jennifer Hoos (DIZ Berlin) as well as the lively discussions during the breaks showed the topicality and relevance of the subject and the synergies that the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) and OHDSI can generate.
